Vilnius Named European Hospitality City 2025
Vilnius has been named the European Hospitality City 2025, receiving a rare Honorary Award from the European Hotel Awards jury. This distinction isn’t presented every year. Instead, it’s reserved for cities that embody the true spirit of European hospitality, sincerity, openness, excellence, and human warmth.
The announcement was made on November 17 at a celebratory gala at the Grand Hotel Vilnius, where hospitality leaders from across Europe gathered to recognize outstanding achievements in the industry.

A City Growing Into Its Moment
“Vilnius is not only an authentic historical city, but also a dynamic European capital with a unique culture of hospitality,” said Mayor Valdas Benkunskas. He noted that the city’s hotel and service ecosystem has grown significantly in recent years, helping position Vilnius on the international stage.
This year’s European Hotel Awards honored winners from 15 countries, spanning Italy and France to the Baltic States and Central Europe.

A Fresh Narrative for Europe
Award organizers described Vilnius as “a capital where tradition and innovation coexist naturally,” adding that the Honorary Award serves as both recognition and encouragement. It reflects their hope that Vilnius and Lithuania continue to flourish as examples of genuine European hospitality.

Local Stars Shine Bright
Alongside the city-wide distinction, four Vilnius hospitality leaders were recognized among this year’s top laureates:
- Radisson Collection Astorija – 2025 Hotel of the Year in Lithuania
- Donatas Šatkauskas, Telegrafas – Chef of the Year
- Sigita Rudzevičiėnė, Grand Hotel Vilnius – Hotel Director of the Year
- Evalda Šiškauskienė, LHRA – Lifetime Achievement Award
These awards highlight the depth of talent and passion driving Vilnius’ hospitality community.

Strengthening Its Place on Europe’s Travel Map
Vilnius is increasingly becoming a meeting point for global hospitality professionals. The city hosted the Future Hospitality & Tourism Forum earlier this year, welcomed the launch of the Baltic Gastro Summit 2025, and is preparing to host HOTREC’s General Assembly next year.
With international interest rising, Vilnius is emerging as a destination that blends authenticity, culture, and a high standard of service. This combination continues to draw travelers, event organizers, and industry leaders to the Lithuanian capital.
